CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team lost a 5-4 decision to Northern Kentucky University Friday afternoon at the Beechmont Racquet Club in Cincinnati, Ohio. USI falls to 7-5 overall and 4-3 in the GLVC, while NKU goes to 13-7, 6-2 GLVC.
USI had the early lead after taking two of the three doubles matches. Freshman Diego Gimenez(Venezuela) and sophomore Joseph Boesing (Floyds Knobs, Indiana) opened the match with a victory at number one doubles, 8-4, while senior Nathan Sexton (Santee, California) and sophomore Ben Hamm (Batesville, Indiana) took the match at number two doubles, 8-4.
The Eagles were able to win two of the singles matches in straight sets with Boesing taking the match at number two and freshman Ben Roeser (Waynesville, Ohio) the match at number five. The Norse were able to win at number one in three sets, including a first set tie-breaker, and in straight sets at number three, four, and six to clinch the match.
USI concludes it two-match road swing at the University of Indianapolis Saturday at 9 a.m. (CDT).
