EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. After last weekend's sweep over Lewis University and Saint Joseph's College, the University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team fell to conference rival Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville, 8-1. The loss dropped USI (8-10, 5-4 GLVC) to fifth place in the GLVC, a game behind SIUE (11-7, 6-3 GLVC) in the GLVC standings.
The Screaming Eagles, who clinched a spot in the GLVC Tournament with last weekend's victories, remain one a game ahead of sixth-place Bellarmine University (11-7, 4-4 GLVC). USI will have a chance to lock the number five spot in the GLVC Tournament Friday afternoon when it hosts Bellarmine at the USI Tennis Courts. Match time is 1 p.m.
USI was led in the loss to SIUE by freshman Ben Hamm (Batesville, IN) at number five singles when he defeated SIUE's Mike Jolly 7-5, 6-4.
