EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team lost a 5-4 decision to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in Edwardsville, Illinois, Tuesday afternoon. USI falls to 1-14 overall and 0-3 in the GLVC.
USI took the early lead by winning two of the three doubles matches. Senior Ryan Hughes (England) and freshman Bodene Scott (Australia) won at number one doubles, 8-6, while sophomore Andrew McGuire (Greenwood, Indiana) and freshman Nathan Moore (Santa Claus, Indiana) were victorious at number two doubles, 8-6.
In singles, SIUE won four of the six matches to win the dual match. USI was led in singles action by Scott, who won in straight sets at number two (7-5, 6-3), and Moore, who need an extra set to win at number four (6-3, 5-7, 6-2).
The next match for USI will be Friday when the Eagles host the University of Missouri-St. Louis at the USI Tennis Courts. Match time is 3 p.m.
