GRANDVILLE, Mich. The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 region match to Grand Valley State University Friday afternoon in Grandville, Michigan. USI falls to 0-5 overall in 2005-06.
USI senior Ryan Hughes (England) posted the Screaming Eagles lone victory at number one singles in straight sets (6-3, 7-6 [4]).
Freshman number four singles player Nathan Moore (Santee, California) and freshman number six singles player Dustin Thomas (Corydon, Indiana) dropped three-set matches after winning the first sets of their matches. Moore opened with a 6-4 win before losing 6-3 and 6-4, while Thomas won 6-2 before falling 6-2 and 6-3.
The Eagles will resume action in Florida during their spring trip, beginning with St. Leo University at Florida Gulf Coast University on March 6.
