EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis won its GLVC opener Friday afternoon with a 7-2 victory over the University of Indianapolis at the USI Tennis Courts. USI also raises its record to 4-5 overall and 1-0 in the GLVC, while Indianapolis goes to 4-7, 0-1 GLVC.
The Eagles took the early 2-1 lead by winning two of the three doubles matches. USI new combination at number two doubles – freshman Jarrod Epkey and senior Kyle Taylor – and number three doubles – senior Nim Shetty and senior Evan Luttrell – posted their first victories of the year.
USI sealed the victory by taking five of the six singles matches. Epkey, Shetty, junior Ryan Hughes, freshman Andrew McGuire, and Taylor picked up their first conference wins of the year.
The Eagles resume GLVC action Saturday morning at the USI Tennis Courts when they host Northern Kentucky University. Start time is 9 a.m.
