Rensselaer, IN—The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team finished its first road trip of the fall 1-1 after sweeping Saint Joseph's College, 9-0, Saturday morning in Rensselaer, Indiana. The Screaming Eagles open the 2004-05 home schedule Tuesday when they host Kentucky Wesleyan College for a 3 p.m. match.
USI started the match off with a sweep of doubles, losing only one game in the three matches. Sophomore Ashley Rees (Vincennes, Indiana) and freshman Sara Wilhoite (Connersville, Indiana) at number one singles and senior Kalie Ackerman (Allendale, Illinois) and sophomore Casey Clausman (Vincennes, Indiana) at number three doubles swept their matches 8-0 for their first victories of the year, while sophomore Audra Bartelt (Jasper, Indiana) and freshman Reilly Ackerman (Allendale, Illinois) won 8-1 at number two doubles.
Wilhoite at number one, Rielly Ackerman at number three, Bartelt at number four, and freshman Maggie Coffman (Sellersburg, Indiana) won their singles matches in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Rees also won at number two singles straight sets 6-0, 6-1, while sophomore Casey Froderman (Brazil, Indiana) won at number five 6-0, 6-3.
