The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team moved its record to 2-0 this fall with a 4-3 victory over Lipscomb University Saturday afternoon at the University of Tennessee-Martin. USI's match with UTM was cancelled due to rain.
USI started the match in good fashion, winning the doubles point by winning. FreshmanÂ
Joe Epkey(Greenwood, Indiana) and juniorÂ
Kyle Taylor (Veedersburg, Indiana) combined for their second win of the year at number two doubles, while seniorÂ
Weston Phillips (Henderson, Kentucky) and juniorÂ
Evan Luttrell (Logansport, Indiana) clinched the double point with an 8-5 victory.
In singles play, USI won the first two matches and the last match to clinch the victory. Phillips started things off for USI by winning at number one in a super tie-breaker. Epkey, who picked his first collegiate singles match victory, and Luttrell wrapped things up for the Eagles with straight set victories at number two and six.
