EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Softball returns to USI Softball Field when the Screaming Eagles take on Morehead State University for a three-game series in Ohio Valley Conference play on Thursday and Friday.
The series starts with a Noon doubleheader on Thursday and concludes on Friday at Noon. The series was originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, but was moved up a day due to inclement weather forecast for later in the week.
USI Softball (10-19, 7-5 OVC) looks to get back on track following a road series loss at Lindenwood University last weekend. Morehead State (2-24, 1-11 OVC) enters the series on a five-game losing streak.
USI leads the all-time series against Morehead State, 8-6. Last season, Morehead State took two of three against USI in Morehead, Kentucky. The Screaming Eagles swept the series in Morehead State's last visit to USI in 2024.
Entering this week's series, USI is tied for fourth in the OVC standings alongside Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. The Screaming Eagles are five games back of first-place Eastern Illinois University.
USI suffered its first series loss in OVC play last weekend at Lindenwood. Junior catcher
Alyssa Mumaw led the Screaming Eagles at the plate in the series, batting .571 with a pair of RBIs. Junior outfielder
Kate Satkoski also swung the bat well, hitting .556 with a couple of doubles and an RBI. Freshman infielder
Jadyn Tinsley hit .333 and also tallied a pair of RBIs.
The Screaming Eagles' junior class has been leading USI's offense in the last two series. Mumaw has been a spark at the plate, hitting .429 with two runs, two doubles, and five RBIs in the last six games. Satkoski is hitting .421 with three runs, two doubles, and an RBI, while junior infielder
Sydney Long is batting .412 with a run, three doubles, and four RBIs. Looking deeper into the whole OVC season so far, Mumaw has hit .444 with seven RBIs, Satkoski has batted .382 with three RBIs, and Long has hit .314 with eight RBIs. The three juniors have combined for 10 doubles during the conference season.

Kylie Witthaus has thrown a team-high 68.1 innings with 36 strikeouts. Freshman
Elly Robbins leads the team with five wins.
Morehead State heads into this week's three-game set against USI after getting swept at home last weekend by Tennessee Tech University, falling 15-10 in the series opener, 10-3 in the middle game, and 7-3 in the finale. The Eagles' only OVC win came in the weekend before on the road at Western Illinois University.
Morehead State is hitting .274 as a team this season, with senior outfielder Maddy Christopher pacing the team with a .380 batting average and 23 runs. Junior utility Noemye Letendre is batting .322 with a team-best 18 RBIs. Morehead State has five players hitting .300 or better and four players with 15 or more RBIs. The pitching staff has a collective ERA over seven, with freshman hurler Allicen Harris having a team-low 5.10 ERA. Junior pitcher Ainsley Stubbs has both of Morehead State's wins this season and tops the squad with 53 strikeouts.
