EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Swimming and Diving will compete in the Summit League Championships in Iowa City, Iowa. The Championships crown a conference title on both sides in the four-day event, running from Wednesday through Saturday at the Iowa Campus Recreation Center.
In 2025, the men made a 94-point improvement from the 2024 conference week. The Screaming Eagles secured five A-Finalists, ten B-Finalists, one silver medal, and one bronze medal. The women improved by 115 points from their 2024 total. USI made significant achievements with five A-Finalists, 13 B-Finalists, one bronze medal, and one silver medal.
The Summit League features the University of Denver, University of Nebraska-Omaha, University of South Dakota, South Dakota State University, University of St. Thomas, Eastern Illinois University, and USI.
Meet Info/Scoring
The Summit Championships schedule is attached above with prelims starting at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Wednesday's prelims start at 12:30 p.m. with finals at 6 p.m. The prelims determine qualification for a final's heats in the evening. After prelims, the top eight swimmers in each individual heat move into A finals, while the next eight qualify for B finals with points on the line for each finals swimmer. The diving format features the same structure competing in one-meter and three-meter diving contests.

Men's
The USI men ended the regular season 3-4 in head-to-head meets. The season was highlighted by two victories over the University of Evansville and a massive home win against the University of Illinois Chicago.
Last time out, the Eagles won ten heats including a 1:32.38 200 medley relay finish. The relay team consisted of juniors
Sam Smith and
Joey Smith, sophomore
Jude Winnington, and freshman
Jerrin Dale. Hannon finished atop the scoreboard with a 1:42.73 200 freestyle time. Winnington came out victorious in the 200 individual medley, while Dale won the 100 breaststroke after a 57.74 performance. Finally, J. Smith earned the top spot in the 100 freestyle with a 46.45 time .2 seconds ahead of second place.
In the meet against Evansville, both senior
Lane Pollock and junior
Nathan Deputy earned spots in the NCAA Zone Championships while shattering records in both the one- and three-meter events. Pollock holds the one-meter record following a 309.83 score against Evansville, while Deputy holds the three-meter event with an outstanding 333.05 score at the same event.
Women's
The women's squad finished the regular season 2-7 in head-to-head meets. The team picked up its two victories over Evansville, one at the Deaconess Aquatic Center and another at the tri-meet in Indianapolis, Indiana, hosted by Indiana University Indianapolis.
Last time out, the Eagles won six heats in a loss to Evansville.
Mattilynn Smith finished atop the podium in both the 500 and 1000 freestyle, recording a 5:16.35 and 10:40.90. The senior nabbed a third-place finish in the 100 freestyle, and she was a member of the second-place 400 freestyle relay team with freshman

Audrey Kalvaitis, and sophomore
Emma Gabhart.
The divers competed in the UIC Diving Invitational at the end of the season. Junior
Maranda Uttke topped the scoreboard for the Eagles following a personal best 238.50 score. Sophomore
Anna Bunnell finished behind Uttke with a 234.45 score and a seventh-place finish. Bunnell opened the three-meter with a team-best 254.85 score, nabbing a third-place finish. Uttke grabbed a top-six finish following an impressive 232.55 performance.

The past decade has been dominated by the University of Denver on both sides. The women have won the past 12 championships, while the men have captured the past 11 of 12. The University of South Dakota won the last non-Denver championship in 2021.
