MINNEAPOLIS, Min. – The University of Southern Indiana Women's Swimming & Diving Team finished off their inaugural season with an eighth-place finish at the Summit League Championships. The Screaming Eagles finished the championships with an incredible 19 school records set, every swim event had a new record set with 14 coming in individual events and five coming from relay events.
Individual:
Freshmen
Mattilynn Smith (Morgantown, Kentucky) and
Kate Hilgarth (Indianapolis, Indiana) along with sophomore
Adele Schnautz (Evansville, Indiana) paced the way for the Eagles, all setting new school records in three separate events. Smith set new records in the 200, 500, and 1650-Yard Freestyles. Hilgarth set records in the 50-Yard Freestyle along with the 100 and 200-Yard Backstrokes. Schnautz showed her strength in the IM races, setting records in the 100, 200, and 400-Yard IMs.
Freshmen
Hannah Gardner (Bowling Green, Kentucky) and
Sarah-Catherine Dawson (Prospect, Kentucky) also set multiple school records each. Gardner setting her records in the 100 and 200-Yard Butterflys while Dawson set hers in the 100 and 200-Yard Breaststrokes. Freshman
Abbi Hendren (Millington, Tennessee) rounds out the individual record setters for USI, setting a new record in the 100-Yard Freestyle.
Relay Events:
The Eagles saw a new record set in all five of the relay events over the tournament, in both medley relays and all three freestyle relays. Both the 200 and 400-Yard Medley Relay records were set by the grouping of Dawson, Gardner, Hendren, and Hilgarth. Hendren and Hilgarth added on to their record setting week by joining the 200 and 400-Yard Freestyle Relay teams to set new school records. The two joined fellow freshmen
Emily McIntosh (Huntertown, Indiana) and
Joey Testa (Huntingdon, Pennsylvania) in the 200 while being joined by Smith and Schnautz in the 400. McIntosh, Smith, and Schnautz were joined by freshman
Lily Tyler (Leesburg, Indiana) to set the record in the 800-Yard Freestyle.
Diving:

Autumn Turley (Hobart, Indiana) recorded a 154.15 in the one-meter prelims while also recording a 162.60 in the three-meter prelims.
