USI hosts UIndy for final regular season series

Eagles to honor seniors on Sunday

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — University of Southern Indiana Baseball concludes the 2021 regular season with a four-game homestand with the University of Indianapolis this weekend. The series begins with a single game Friday at 6 p.m.; followed by a doubleheader Saturday at 2 p.m.; and concludes Sunday with a single game at noon.
 
The Eagles will celebrate Senior Day Sunday and will recognize its 11 senior student athletes and student staff at 11:40 a.m., prior to the noon first pitch.
 
 For the safety and well-being of the players, coaches, and officials, the following spectator guidelines have set in place this season:
  • Attendance has been increased to four pre-approved guests per USI student-athlete.
  • USI student attendance will be allowed and limited to the first 70.
  • Dugout Club and baseball sponsor attendance will be allowed and limited to 70.
  • Masks/face coverings for entry into the facility and must be worn at all times.
  • Social distancing must be observed at all times.
  • Visiting team fans are still prohibited at this time.
Fans also can catch all of the game coverage for the 2021, including live stats, video stream, and audio broadcasts, on GoUSIEagles.com. Selected games also can be heard on ESPN 97.7FM and 95.7FM The Spin.

All broadcasts on GLVCSN are subject to weather or other unforeseen circumstances that could prevent the games from being broadcast.
 
USI Baseball Notes:
USI vs. UIndy: USI (20-16, 16-12 GLVC) leads the all-time series with UIndy (17-15, 15-9 GLVC), 59-56, after the Greyhounds took two of three from the Eagles in 2019. The Eagles, however, are 6-4 versus the Greyhounds since 2018.
 
Eagles last week: USI was 1-3 last week, losing three of four on the road with nationally-ranked Lindenwood University. The have won 16 of the 21 dating back to the end of March.
 
Greyhounds last week: UIndy won three of four with McKendree University last weekend and are 4-6 in the last 10 games.
 
Eagles this season: USI junior infielder Ethan Hunter lead the Eagles with a .336 batting average and 37 RBIs. Senior outfielder Manny Lopez has a team-high 10 home runs, followed by Hunter with seven.
 
On the mound, senior right-hander Jacob Bowles leads the team with four victories, while senior right-hander Tyler Hagedorn has a team-best 2.89 ERA and four saves on the season. 
 
Getting on base: Senior outfielder Bryce Krizan, junior infielder Ethan Hunter, and senior infielder Kobe Stephens have been getting the USI offense going by reaching base. Krizan has reached in the last 26-straight, while Hunter and Stephens have reached in 24 and 20-straight, respectively.
 
USI in the GLVC: USI enters the conference weekend tied for third in GLVC Blue Division, tied with Lewis University with 16-12 league marks. The Eagles need two victories to secure a spot in the upcoming GLVC Tournament.
