Eagles visit Quincy Tuesday with three road games on tap

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana Women's Basketball returns to action Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. when it visits Quincy University for a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest.
 
Tuesday's contest is a rematch from USI's 62-50 win over the Hawks this past Thursday at Screaming Eagles Arena and is one of three road games on the week for the Screaming Eagles.
 
USI (10-2, 10-2 GLVC) also visits William Jewell College Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and Rockhurst University Saturday at 2 p.m.

USI Women's Basketball Notes (2/1/21)
• Schedule changes. USI Women's Basketball's game at William Jewell Thursday has been moved to a 6:30 p.m. start due to the men's game at Jewell being moved to Friday. Additionally, USI's game at Rockhurst Saturday has been changed to a 2 p.m. start, while USI's game at McKendree February 22 has been scheduled for a 1 p.m. tip-off time.
 
• Eagles end three-game homestand on down note. USI Women's Basketball went 2-1 this past week at Screaming Eagles Arena. The Eagles defeated Indianapolis, 56-51, on Tuesday and Quincy, 62-50, on Thursday. USI, however, ended the week on a down note as Truman State handed the Eagles their first home loss of the year, 73-67, on Saturday.
 
• Last week's leaders. Sophomore forward Hannah Haithcock averaged 16.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game to lead the Eagles, while senior guard Emma DeHart chipped in 16.3 points and 3.0 assists per game.
 
• Win streak ends. USI's five-game winning streak came to an end with its loss to Truman State Saturday. It's the second time this season USI has won five straight games.
 
• Career highs. USI saw four players record career highs in its loss to Truman State. Haithcock and senior center Audrey Turner respectively scored a career-high 22 and 15 points, while DeHart, who had 15 points, dished out a career-high six assists. Sophomore guard Soffia Rieckers added a career-high five assists and seven rebounds.
 
• Fouls. The Eagles committed a season-high 27 fouls in their loss to Truman. The Bulldogs capitalized on USI's foul troubles, going 21-of-37 from the free throw line, including 14-of-18 in the fourth quarter. USI, meanwhile, was only able to draw 14 fouls, going 11-of-16 from the charity stripe.
 
• USI in national poll. The Eagles were ranked No. 11 in last week's D2SIDA Top 25 Media Poll. The WBCA Top 25 is set to debut Tuesday. Last week's ranking, once again, was the highest for the Eagles since they were ranked No. 9 in Division II Media Poll February 20, 2018.
 
• GLVC Point Ratings System. The Eagles dropped to third in the latest GLVC Point Ratings System (PRS) rankings, which determine the eight teams that will compete in the GLVC Tournament in March. The Eagles have a rating of 4.38, trailing only Drury (4.55) and Truman State (4.42). Lewis (3.68) and Lindenwood (3.40) round out the top five teams, while Missouri-St. Louis (3.33), Rockhurst (3.14) and Maryville (3.10) round out the top eight teams.
 
• Season leaders. DeHart leads USI with 15.3 points and 3.3 assists per game, while Haithcock is averaging 12.8 points and a team-high 7.0 rebounds per contest. Sophomore guard Addy Blackwell is contributing 9.0 points and a team-high 1.8 steals per outing, while senior guard Ashley Hunter is adding 7.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals per appearance. Turner leads USI with 1.1 blocks per contest.
 
• Roaring 20s. DeHart has reached the 20-point plateau three times this year, while Haithcock has one 20-point effort under her belt. USI had five different players reach the 20-point plateau a year ago, including DeHart, Haithcock and Robbe.
 
• Double-figures. USI has had nine different players reach double-figures in the scoring column this year, with seven players having had 10 or more points in multiple games.
 
• About Quincy. The Hawks are 1-12 overall and 1-12 in GLVC play after suffering an 82-57 loss at Indianapolis Saturday. Sophomore guard Laney Lantz averages 17.1 points per game to lead Quincy, while freshman guard Jazzpher Evans is contributing 12.4 points per appearance. Sophomore forward Marta Rivera leads Quincy with 5.5 rebounds per outing.
 
• Last meeting. DeHart and Haithcock combined for 37 points as USI held off a second-half comeback bid to defeat the Hawks, 62-50. DeHart had nine of her game-high 19 points in the final five minutes and 13 in the second half as USI held Quincy to just 1-of-28 (.036) shooting from three-point range. Evans and Lantz paced Quincy with 13 and 12 points, respectively, while Haithcock chipped in 18 points and eight rebounds for USI.
 
• About Jewell. Senior forward Kiara Bradley averages 21.0 points and 9.1 rebounds per game to lead the Cardinals, who are 6-8 overall and 6-8 in GLVC play after an 80-75 road win over McKendree Saturday.
 
• Last meeting. USI had a season-high five players score in double-figures, with DeHart going for 20, en route to an 80-55 win at Screaming Eagles Arena in November. USI led by one after 10 minutes of play before outscoring the Cardinals, who were led by Bradley's 23 points and 11 rebounds 22-13 in the second quarter and 25-14 in the fourth.
 
• About Rockhurst. Senior guard Daly Sullivan and freshman guard Keegan Sullivan average 13.5 and 11.6 points per game, respectively, to lead the Hawks, who are 6-5 overall and 6-5 in GLVC play following a 57-51 road win over Missouri-St. Louis Saturday. Rockhurst visits No. 1 Drury Tuesday and hosts McKendree Thursday before welcoming the Eagles Saturday.
 
• Last meeting. DeHart scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Eagles to a wire-to-wire 70-55 win over the Hawks in their season-opener at Screaming Eagles Arena in November. USI outscored Rockhurst 22-12 in the first and 16-8 in the fourth to earn the 15-point victory. Daly Sullivan had 13 points to pace the Hawks, junior forward Monika Faerber, who leads Rockhurst with 7.4 rebounds per game this year, had 13 rebounds.
 
• Record book watch. The Eagles have one player making moves inside the USI Women's Basketball Record Books:
Emma DeHart has jumped 18 spots to No. 25 all-time at USI with 831 career points. She began the year ranked No. 43. DeHart is six points away from matching Elizabeth Prewett for 24th and is vying to become the 19th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points.
 
• Magic Mark: 75 points. The Eagles are 422-77 (.846) all-time when scoring at least 75 points. USI is 295-28 (.913) since 1996-97 when reaching the 75-point plateau.
