After an outstanding senior season with the Screaming Eagles, USI Women's Basketball alum Sarang West is set for an exciting new chapter, taking her talents to England this fall for a unique postgraduate student-athlete opportunity.

This September, the talented guard will travel to the UK, where she will spend the next 12 months pursuing a master's degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology while playing another season of college basketball.

Following significant interest from universities across the UK, Sarang considered several postgraduate scholarship opportunities before committing to one of the country's most ambitious and competitive basketball programs. Alongside her postgraduate studies, she'll return to the court for one final collegiate season, competing for a national championship while embracing life overseas.

In recent years, the UK has become a popular destination for former student-athletes, as different eligibility rules permit students to compete while pursuing their graduate education.

While the chance to play another year of college sport initially caught her attention, several other factors also influenced Sarang's decision to make the move to England. Master's degrees in the UK take only 12 months to complete; tuition is typically cheaper, and former US college athletes can often use their playing experience to earn substantial athletic scholarships.

Sarang was supported throughout the entire process by UK-based company Play Overseas, which provides a free service to graduating and former student-athletes, helping them to identify opportunities to further both their sporting career and education overseas.

Play Overseas is currently recruiting student-athletes for 2027 entry and beyond.
