EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team finishes its six-game homestand by hosting the Bill Joergens Memorial Tournament Friday and Saturday at the Physical Activities Center. The tournament will feature USI, Bellarmine University, third-ranked Florida Southern College, and King College.

Friday's tournament schedule will feature Bellarmine versus Florida Southern in the 5:15 p.m. contest, while USI plays King at 7:30 p.m. Saturday's schedule has Bellarmine against King in the 5:15 p.m. tip-off, followed by USI and Florida Southern at 7:30 p.m.

The Screaming Eagles (5-2) are 4-0 during the homestand and are coming off an 83-39 victory over Missouri Baptist College Monday evening. The 39 points was the lowest opponent total since USI held Manchester College to 36 during the 1986-87 season.

USI junior forward Brandon Russ (Cincinnati, Ohio) has led the Eagles in scoring off the bench during the homestand. Russ is dropping in 17.3 points per game, while senior forward Anthony Pimble (Bronx, New York) has posted 16.3 points per contest.

Russ and Pimble also are tied for the season lead in scoring with 14.0 points per game each. Russ also leads the team with 5.4 rebounds per appearance, while junior forward Tyrone Bradshaw (Cincinnati, Ohio) has blocked a team and GLVC-high 25 shots this year.

USI's opponents in the tournament have been on a roll this season, combining for a 12-2 mark this season.

The Tornados of King (7-1) have won their last two games after winning five of their first six games. King is led by junior guard Kyle Savely and sophomore guard Mark Dockery who are averaging 15.0 points per game.

The USI-King match-up on Friday will be the first ever-contest between the two schools.

The Moccasins of Florida Southern (5-1) come to the PAC under the direction of a familiar face in Head Coach Linc Darner, who was formerly the head coach at Saint Joseph's College. Darner's Moccasin, who play the University of Puerto Rico-Piedras Tuesday night, have won their last two since falling to Division I University of Miami.

Florida Southern, who also was ranked fourth nationally in the preseason, started the year by winning the Group Sportsmanship Division at the Disney Division II Tip-Off Classic. Seven-foot senior center Rashaad Singleton definitely had an impact, as he set the Classic record with 17 blocked shots in the three games.

FSC senior guard Rob Eldridge leads the Moccasins with 14.3 points per game, while Singleton is dropping in 11.0 points and blocking 4.8 shots per contest.

The Moccasins lead the all-time series with the Eagles, 2-0. FSC won the last meeting in 1989-90, 78-76, in the Bahamas Shootout.

Bellarmine, who hosts USI on January 10 for a GLVC contest, opens the regular season Tuesday night on the road against Hillsdale College. The Knights were 1-1 during the preseason, defeating Indiana University Southeast, 87-69, and losing to Bowling Green University, 70-65.

Last year, Bellarmine was 17-11 overall and 11-8 in the GLVC for a fourth place finish in the GLVC East Division.
