• GLVC Tournament Points Rating System. After five weeks of GLVC play, the GLVC Tournament Points Rating System (GTPRS) has the Eagles in fourth place with a rating of 3.94. Drury (4.78) leads the league, while Lewis (4.13) and Truman State (3.95) are second and third, respectively. Maryville (3.67), Bellarmine (2.61), Illinois Springfield (2.61) and William Jewell (2.61) round out the top nine teams. The GTPRS will determine the participants and seeding of the GLVC Tournament in 2018-19.

• Eagles outpace Miners. USI began the week with a 76-61 GLVC win over visiting Missouri S&T. The Eagles trailed 21-19 early in the second period before using runs of 11-2 and 7-2 to take a 39-30 halftime advantage. The Eagles used third-quarter runs of 10-0 and 7-0 to put the Miners away with 10 minutes left in the game.

• Eagles win big in second, third periods. USI lost the first and fourth periods to Missouri S&T by one point apiece, but the second and third quarters were much kinder to the Eagles, who outscored the Miners by a combined 43-16 throughout the middle 20 minutes of the contest.

• Rough day against Drury. USI committed a season-high 45 turnovers and missed 10 layups in its 77-50 loss to Drury Saturday. Despite the missed chances and offensive miscues, the Eagles trailed by just 15 points late in the third quarter before the game spiraled out of control.

• Telling stat. USI took 21 less shots than that of Drury, which went 29-of-65 (.446) from the field. USI was 15-of-44 (.341) from the field.

• Historic number. The 45 turnovers USI committed against Drury were the most by an Eagle squad under Head Coach Rick Stein and the most since USI had 46 turnovers against College of the Ozarks on November 17, 1990. The most turnovers by a Stein-coached team was previously 36 against Columbus State in the opening round of the 2001 Elite Eight, while the most turnovers committed by the Eagles in 2018-19 before Saturday's game was 21.

• Double-figures. Freshman forward Ashlynn Brown scored a season-high 10 points in USI's win over Quincy, making her the ninth different USI player to score in double figures this year. USI has had seven different players reach double-figures in the scoring column multiple times in 2018-19 and four different players reach the 20-point plateau.

• Up next. USI begins a three-game road trip Saturday when it travels to Louisville, Kentucky, to take on arch-rival Bellarmine in Knights Hall.

• About Bellarmine. The Knights, who are under the direction of USI Hall of Fame Coach Chancellor Dugan, enter Saturday's game with a 9-8 overall record and a 3-6 mark in GLVC play. Junior guard Mikayla Berry averages 10.8 points per game to lead the Knights, who went 1-1 last week. Senior center Liza Tibbs is chipping in 9.4 points and a team-best 5.6 rebounds per contest.

• Stein vs. Dugan. When the Eagles and Knights battle Saturday evening, it will mark the 14th time that Stein squares off against his former boss. Stein holds an 8-5 lead in the all-time series between the two.

• Around the corner. USI concludes the three-game road trip next week when it visits Indianapolis February 7 and No. 10/18 Lewis February 9.

• Record book watch. Two players are currently in USI's record books:
Alex Davidson is 43rd in scoring (536);
Kacy Eschweiler is seventh in blocks (73), is tied for 20th in rebounding (460) and is 37th in scoring (697).

• Magic Mark: 75 points. The Eagles are 410-76 (.844) all-time when scoring at least 75 points. USI is 283-27 (.913) since 1996-97 when reaching the 75-point plateau.
