EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The University of Southern Indiana baseball team concludes the 2016 home schedule this week starting with a single game versus the University of Missouri-St. Louis Wednesday at 6 p.m. USI concludes the 10-game homestand and this spring's home slate with doubleheaders Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at noon against Saint Joseph's College.

SCREAMING EAGLES BASEBALL NOTES:
USI starts week a game out of first in the GLVC East. USI, 13-7 in the league, starts in second in the GLVC East Division, one game behind the University of Indianapolis (14-6 GLVC). The Eagles also are a game ahead of third place Saint Joseph's College (12-8 GVLC).
Kempf chasing records. USI senior rightfielder
Kyle Kempf (Evansville, Indiana) is chasing several school records this spring. Kempf, currently, is second all-time with 269 hits (record 270); fourth with 54 doubles (record 63); tied for seventh with 153 runs scored (record 183); and eighth with 198 games played (record 213).
Carr hoping to steal a record. USI senior centerfielder
Hamilton Carr is closing on the Eagles' stolen base record with 75 career thefts (record 86), ranking third on the Eagles' all-time list. Carr also ranks 14
th all-time in hits (190), 12
th in runs scored, and 15
th in games played (170).
Eagles are 3-2 during homestand. USI went 3-2 last week to start the homestand, cruising by Oakland City University and splitting a four-game series with Lewis University. The Eagles are 18-11 at the USI Baseball Field this spring.

Trent Gunn (Tell City, Indiana) leads the Eagles during the homestand by hitting .600 (9-15), while sophomore infielder
Joe Redburn (Newburgh, Indiana) has a team-best six RBIs.
Gunn becoming a machine at the plate. Senior third baseman
Trent Gunn has been on a tear the last 22 games, batting .413 (31-75) with 24 runs scored, 19 RBIs, and 10 doubles. Gunn, who is riding a 14-game hitting streak, also has raised his overall batting average from .205 to .318 over the last 22 games. The 14-game hitting streak is tied for the team-lead for the season-best and is five short of the single-season mark (19).
On the bump. Junior right-hander
Devin Williams (Evansville, Indiana) leads the Eagles with five victories and is 5-3 overall this year, while freshman right-hander
Austin Krizan (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) has a team-best 1.94 ERA in 51 innings of work. Following Williams in the win column are Krizan, senior right-hander
Colin Nowak (Carol Stream, Illinois) and junior right-hander
Lucas Barnett (Sellersburg, Indiana) with four wins each. Barnett is the team-leader with 61 strikeouts.

Austin Krizan are 2-0 each in the last two starts. Nowak has a 0.00 ERA in those two starts, while Krizan has a 0.56 ERA.
Leading the GLVC in pitching. USI leads the GLVC and ranks 14
th nationally in pitching with a 3.30 ERA.
Archuleta at USI. USI Head Coach
Tracy Archuleta reached 500 all-time victories and became the Eagles' all-time winningest coach in program history. Archuleta has a USI record of 365-187 (.662) in eight-plus seasons and is 513-311 (.623) in 13-plus seasons as the head coach. He has been named the ABCA Division II Coach of the Year twice (2010 and 2014) after leading the Screaming Eagles to a pair of national championships. Archuleta also has earned a pair of GLVC Coach of the Year awards (2011 and 2014) at USI.
USI vs. UMSL. USI holds a 49-42 lead over the Tritons all-time after dropping an 8-1 decision April 5 in St. Louis.
UMSL in 2016. The Tritons of UMSL are 24-16 overall after dropping three of four on the road at Truman State University over the weekend. UMSL is 4-6 in the last 10 games.
USI vs. Saint Joseph's. USI trails the all-time series with Saint Joseph's, 41-38, after losing three of four to the Pumas in Rensselaer, Indiana, during 2015. The Eagles have won nine of the last 11 games with the Pumas at the USI Baseball Field.
Saint Joseph's in 2016. The Pumas of Saint Joseph's are 24-18 overall and 12-8 in the GLVC during the 2016 campaign. Saint Joseph's, currently, is in third in the GLVC East Division after sweeping four games from McKendree University over the weekend.
