EVANSVILLE, Ind .— The University of Southern Indiana baseball team concludes its 10-game homestand this weekend with the USI Invitational Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the USI Baseball Field. Invitational action starts Friday at 2 p.m. when USI hosts Trevecca Nazarene University.
On Saturday, the Screaming Eagles are slated to play Wayne State University at 1 p.m. and Trevecca Nazarene at 4 p.m. USI concludes the homestand and the invitational Sunday at noon when it takes on Wayne State. Trevecca Nazarene and Wayne State also are slated to play each other in a 10 a.m. match-up Saturday at the USI Baseball Field.
Following the homestand, USI hits the road for the first time in 2016 when it travels to play in the Perfect Pitch Spring Swing in Emerson, Georgia. The Spring Swing features USI versus Augusta University March 8 at 3 p.m. (CST) and Georgia College & State University March 9 at 2 p.m. (CST)
SCREAMING EAGLES BASEBALL NOTES: Eagles off to good start in 2016. USI is 3-3 after going 1-2 in the Dunn Hospitality Classic last week. The Screaming Eagles won the opener, 14-13, over Truman State in 11 innings, but fell 11-6 to Ashland University and 3-2 in the second match-up with Truman State.

Drake McNamara had the best week at the plate for the Eagles in the Dunn Hospitality Classic, hitting .429 (6-14) with three runs scoring and a pair of RBIs. Senior shortstop

Devin Williams had the Eagles' best outing on the mound despite getting the loss, allowing three unearned runs on five hits and five strike outs in 7.1 innings of work.

Tracy Archuleta is closing on 500 all-time victories with 491 wins combined between his seasons at USI and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

Tracy Archuleta has a USI record of 343-174 (.663) in eight-plus seasons and is 491-298 (.622) in 13-plus seasons as the head coach. He has been named the ABCA Division II Coach of the Year twice (2010 and 2014) after leading the Screaming Eagles to a pair of national championships. He also has earned a pair of GLVC Coach of the Year awards (2011 and 2014).
