EVANSVILLE, Ind. – In an evening that celebrates the accomplishments of the University of Southern Indiana student athletes during the 2013-14 year, sophomore Johnnie Guy (men's cross country and track), junior Anna Hackert (women's basketball), senior Stephanie Carpenter (women's basketball), and senior Jeff Neidlinger (men's soccer) were recognized as the top student athletes at the 12th annual USI All-Sports Banquet sponsored by Old National Bank Monday evening.

The ONB/USI Female Student Athlete of the Year, Hackert was named to a pair of All-America teams, earned All-Region honors, and was named first team All-GLVC, while leading the Eagles to a berth in the GLVC Tournament. The mathematics major also became just the sixth player in USI women's basketball history to eclipse 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds.

Previous winners of the award were Shannon Wells (2003, volleyball), Jenny Farmer (2004; cross country/track), Heather Cooksey (2005; cross country/track), Laura Ellerbusch (2006; volleyball), Allison Shafer (2007; cross country/track), Kristin Eickholt (2008; softball), Mary Ballinger (2009, 2010; cross country/track), Danielle LaGrange (2011, 2012; volleyball), and Susan Ellsperman (2013; women's soccer).

This past fall, Guy helped lead the mens' cross country squad to its ninth-straight GLVC title and won the GLVC individual crown before going on to the NCAA Division II Midwest Region title. The engineering major has earned All-America, All-Region, and All-GLVC honors in all of his three sports and will look to make it four straight NCAA events with an All-America honor later this spring.

Previous winners of the award were Duncan Bray (2003, 2004; soccer), Matt Keener (2005; baseball), Chris Thompson (2006; men's basketball), Melvin Hall (2007; men's basketball), Paul Jellema (2008; men's cross country/track), Shaun Larsen (2009; baseball), Jamar Smith (2010; men's basketball), Trevor Leach (2011; baseball), Dustin Emerick (2012; men's cross country & track) and Michael Jordan (2013; men's cross country & track).

A three-time Academic All-GLVC performer, Carpenter averaged 14.5 points per contest, good enough for second on the team and 11th in the conference. Carpenter, who ranked first in the GLVC in three-point field goals made during 2013-14, became the Eagles' all-time leader in long range shooting with 194 three-point field goals.
