EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana baseball team returns to action Saturday and Sunday when it visits William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, for a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheaders. First pitch is noon each day.
Saturday's game marks the first-ever meeting between the Screaming Eagles and the Cardinals on the baseball field. Live stats and audio are available at

USI (10-4, 2-0 GLVC), which has won eight straight games, is coming off a double-header sweep of Drury University in its conference-opener. The Eagles took the first game, 4-1, before closing day with a 3-1 win in the nightcap.
Senior infielder 
Caleb Eickhoff is hitting .474 with four doubles and seven RBIs to lead the Eagles at the plate, while junior 
Ben Wright leads USI's starters on the mound with a 1-1 record and a 0.95 ERA.
As a team, the Eagles' pitching staff has compiled a 2.80 ERA and has limited the opposition to a .246 batting average. USI, which is receiving votes in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25 poll, is hitting .270 as a team and averaging five runs per contest.
Junior infielder/pitcher 
Matt Chavarria has aided the Eagles in both categories. Chavarria has three saves and a 0.00 ERA in four appearances on the mound. He is hitting .348 with a team-high tying 10 RBIs at the plate.
This weekend's series starts a 10-game road trip for the Eagles, who also visit McKendree University March 29-30 and Bellarmine University April 1. The Eagles return to the USI Baseball Field April 4 to begin a four-game series with the University of Illinois Springfield.
