Doyle named to Indiana Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary Team

EVANSVILLE, Ind. --  Former University of Southern Indiana men's basketball player Jeff Doyle '94 (1990-94) was selected for the 2015 Men's Silver Anniversary Team by the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.

The 2015 Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary Team is based upon outstanding accomplishments as a senior basketball player 25 years ago.  The team includes 11 members of the 1990 Indiana All-Star squad and seven other all-state players from Indiana's high school class of 1990.

The 1990 Indiana All-Stars include Mr. Basketball Damon Bailey, Linc Darner, Jamar Johnson, Marcus Johnson, Eric Montross, Juda Parks, Joe Ross, Jon Ross, and Jeermal Sylvester. Click on the link for the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame release.

Doyle helped lead the 1993-94 Screaming Eagles to their first NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional championship, the program's first appearance in the NCAA II Elite Eight, and the University's first appearance on national television when USI was the runner-up for the national title. The 1993-94 Eagles, who were directed by then Head Coach Bruce Pearl, also set a school record for wins with a 28-4 mark (the mark was broken the next year by the national championship team).

A four-year player at USI, Doyle finished his career with 631 points (6.6 points per game) and 248 rebounds (2.6 rebounds per contest) in 96 games and 50 starts at forward. The native of Loogootee, Indiana, had his best season as an Eagle in 1992-93 when he started 28 of 29 games and averaged 7.9 points and 3.0 rebounds per contest while helping the Eagles earn a berth in the NCAA II Tournament.

Doyle posted a single-game career-best 19 points against Northern Kentucky University in 1992-93 and reached a career-high nine rebounds twice.

Prior to coming to USI, Doyle helped Loogootee High School (Loogootee, Indiana) to a 28-1 record as a senior under the direction of legendary Head Coach Jack Butcher. The AP All-State performer averaged 24 points and 10.2 rebounds per game as a senior.

Currently, Doyle is the principal at Barr Reeve Jr./Sr. High School in Montgomery, Indiana.
