EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana women's basketball junior forward/center
Anna Hackert has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in an announcement by the league office Tuesday.
Hackert averaged 24.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game to lead the Screaming Eagles to GLVC road wins over Rockhurst University and William Jewell College this past weekend.
The Women's Division II Bulletin Preseason GLVC Player of the Year, Hackert lived up to that billing in USI's 84-81 win over the Cardinals of William Jewell on Sunday. Hackert racked up a career-high 36 points and pulled down a season-best 14 rebounds, marking the first time since Africa Sherrod in 2003 that a USI women's basketball player reached the 30-point, 10-rebound plateau in the same contest. Her 36 points also tied for the sixth-most in a single game in the program's history.
Hackert, a preseason Super 16 All-American by the Division II Bulletin, is claiming her third GLVC Player of the Week honor after earning the weekly award twice in 2012-13.
USI returns to action Thursday at 5:15 p.m. when it hosts Missouri University of Science & Technology to begin a four-game homestand at the Physical Activities Center. The Eagles conclude the first-part of the homestand Saturday at 1 p.m. when they host No. 10 Drury University.
Both games will be aired on WPSR 90.7 FM, while live stats, audio, and video can be accessed at
