EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team went a perfect 22-of-22 from the free throw line and junior forward/center Anna Hackert collected her 500th career rebound as the Screaming Eagles defeated Saint Joseph's College, 69-56, Thursday evening at the Physical Activities Center.

USI (10-3, 4-1 GLVC) scored the final eight points of the first half to turn a five-point deficit into a 30-27 halftime edge; then went on a 9-0 run to begin the second period as the Screaming Eagles forged a 12-point lead with 17 minutes to play.

Junior guard Stephanie Carpenter drained two of her three first-half three-pointers in the final 45 seconds of the first half and junior forward/center Mary O'Keefe scored all of her six points in USI's 9-0 run to begin the second period.

The Eagles missed their first seven attempts from the arc, but Carpenter and junior guard Libby Ogden combined for seven three-pointers in the final 28 minutes to aid the Eagles' offense.

Carpenter, who finished with a game-high tying 20 points, connected on four shots from downtown for the third straight game, while Ogden went 3-of-5 from behind the arc as she finished with 15 points.

Hackert added 12 points and a game-high tying eight rebounds for the Eagles, who gave Head Coach Rick Stein his 400th combined victory at USI—he has 241 career wins in 15 years as the Eagles' head coach after helping USI to 159 wins in eight seasons as an assistant.

Saint Joseph's (3-9, 1-4 GLVC), which outscored the Eagles 26-16 in the paint, did not get any closer than eight points the remainder of the contest after what amounted to the 17-0 USI run.

The Eagles, whose perfect effort from the charity stripe set a single-game school record for free throw percentage, capitalized on Saint Joseph's turnovers throughout the contest. USI turned the Pumas' 21 offensive miscues into 23 points, a number that helped off-set a 42-34 rebounding deficit.

USI completes its four-game homestand Saturday at 1 p.m. when it hosts No. 14 University of Indianapolis at the PAC. The Greyhounds (14-2, 5-0 GLVC) defeated Bellarmine University, 86-72, Thursday night in Louisville, Kentucky.
