Bowles leads USI to 3-1 win

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana baseball team took the series finale with the University of Indianapolis, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at the USI Baseball Field. USI sees its record rise to 16-12 overall and 7-11 in the GLVC, while UIndy goes to 15-13, 7-11 GLVC.

Matt Bowles (Mt. Washington, Kentucky) led the Screaming Eagles to the victory by pitching nine strong innings. Bowles allowed one run on seven hits and two walks, while striking out three.

Kyle Niemeier (Evansville, Indiana) started the rally by reaching on an error and advanced into scoring position on a double by senior rightfielder

Reece Rounder (Evansville, Indiana), while Willis crossed the plate on a passed ball to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
After the Greyhounds cut the Eagles' advantage to 2-1 in the sixth, USI bounced back to seal the 3-1 victory with a tally in the seventh. Senior catcher
Colton White (Springfield, Illinois) led off with a double, advanced to third on a sacrifice, and scored on a RBI-single by junior shortstop

The Eagles continue the 11-game homestand Tuesday when they host Brescia University for a non-conference game at 6 p.m. USI resumes GLVC action and concludes the homestand April 13-14 when the University of Wisconsin-Parkside visits for a four-game series.
