USI starts 11-game homestand with KWC

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The University of Southern Indiana baseball team returns to the friendly surroundings of the USI Baseball Field Tuesday to open an 11-game homestand, starting with a two-game series versus Kentucky Wesleyan College. The first pitch between USI and KWC Tuesday and Wednesday is 6 p.m. each night.

Coverage of the Screaming Eagles' games, including live stats and audio broadcasts, is available at gousieagles.com.

The Eagles (12-10, 3-9 GLVC) are hoping an 11-game homestand will get them on track and provide a lift to the team. USI has lost nine of its last 10 games, struggling since the beginning of Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

The Panthers of KWC (8-15, 3-9 GLVC) also has been struggling losing eight of their last nine games. USI leads the all-time series with KWC, 90-63, after taking three of four from the Panthers last year.

In addition to the two-game series with KWC, the Eagles are slated to host a four-game series with the defending the GLVC and NCAA Division II Midwest Regional champion University of Indianapolis. The series starts with a single game Friday at 6 p.m. before continuing with a Saturday doubleheader at 2 p.m. and a single game series finale Sunday at 1 p.m.

SCHEDULE NOTE:  USI has added a home game to the schedule, hosting Brescia University April 9 at 6 p.m.
