EVANSVILLE, Ind.--- Junior outside hitter Lauren DeShaney (Appleton, Wisconsin) had a match-high 12 kills and a blistering .526 attacking percentage as the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team earned its fourth straight victory with a 25-14, 25-16, 20-25 win over visiting non-conference opponent Kentucky Wesleyan College Tuesday night at the Physical Activities Center.

The Screaming Eagles improve to 14-4 overall while the Panthers, who left the Great Lakes Valley Conference last year for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, fall to 15-4 overall.

Junior outside hitter Fawn Ryan (Batesville, Indiana) and sophomore middle blocker Abbey Winter (Germantown, Illinois) followed DeShaney's 12 kills with nine apiece.  Senior setter Jorae Bradbury (Decatur, Indiana) tallied 26 assists, while freshman Paige Newvine (Elkhart, Indiana) came off the bench in the final set, recording nine.

Defensively, senior libero Kayla Heldman (Greenwood, Indiana) came up with a match-high 14 digs. Sophomore right side hitter Erica Oberbroeckling (Westfield, Indiana) led at the net with five blocks.

It was all USI in the first set as the Eagles got an early 14-8 lead and outhit the KWC .640 to .304. Up 21-14, USI went on a 4-0 run to take the first set, 25-14.

The Eagles remained strong in set two, limiting the Panthers to a .167 attacking percentage and 10 kills. USI got an early 7-2 lead forcing KWC to call a timeout. The rest didn't seem to hinder the home team as they quickly built a 10-point lead over the Panthers.  Freshman middle blocker Amy Zwissler (Bloomington, Indiana) and Oberbroeckling sealed set two with a block, as the Eagles went into the third set up, 2-0.

KWC let the Eagles gain a 15-5 lead in the final set and watched as it quickly increased. Down 22-18, the Panthers tried to catch up, but failed as Ryan and Winter sealed the win for the Eagles with one and two kills, respectively.

The Eagles return to GLVC action Friday at 7 p.m. when they host the University of Illinois Springfield for their second annual "Dig for the Cure" match at the PAC.
