SOMERS, Wis. – University of Southern Indiana senior defender Julio Roda (Santa Cruz, Bolivia), freshman forward Steve Sokol (Perth, Australia), and senior defender Tyler White (Fishers, Indiana) each scored their first collegiate goals to lead the Screaming Eagles to a 3-0 victory at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Sunday afternoon in Somers, Wisconsin. USI saw its record go to 4-6-2 overall, and 3-6-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while UW-Parkside ends the day 6-5-1 overall and 5-5-0 in the GLVC.

The victory keeps the Screaming Eagles in the hunt for a spot in the GLVC Tournament in three weeks. USI, currently, is 2.5 games out of a tournament slot with five games remaining.

Roda started the scoring for USI in the first half with the eventual game-winning goal at 26:14. The tally, which would stand through halftime, also was the first game-winning goal of Roda's career. White also picked up his first assist of the year on the play.

In the second half, USI did not waste any time in extending the lead and clinching the victory. Sokol pushed the Eagles' lead to 2-0 at 55:10 off an assist from freshman midfielder Stephen Tuma (Pekin, Indiana), while White sealed the 3-0 victory with an unassisted strike at 59:55.

Offensively, the Eagles have picked up the offensive tempo and doubled their goal production over the last three matches. USI is averaging 2.4 goals per game in the last three games, compared to 1.2 tallies per contest in the first nine contests.

Senior goalkeeper Jeffrey Neidlinger (Carmel, Indiana) recorded his third shutout of the season by making a pair of saves, facing 12 shots.

USI begins the second half of the four-game road swing Friday when it travels to Maryville University for a 1 p.m. contest. The Eagles conclude the longest road trip of the year at 2:30 p.m. October 20 when they visit the University of Missouri-St.  Louis.

The Eagles return to Strassweg Field for a final regular season two-game homestand October 25 and October 27, hosting host Truman State University and Quincy University, respectively.
