Game Notes (pdf.)

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team opens Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division play Thursday at 5:15 p.m. when it hosts Saint Joseph's College at the Physical Activities Center.

USI's contest with Saint Joseph's is the first of three games that the Screaming Eagles will play in a five-day stretch. The Eagles also host No. 5 University of Indianapolis Saturday at 1 p.m. before traveling to Owensboro, Kentucky, Monday to take on Kentucky Wesleyan College in a 5:15 p.m. tip-off at the Sportscenter.

USI (11-1, 3-1 GLVC), which is receiving votes in the USA Today Sports Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, is coming off its first loss of the season, a 65-62 setback to GLVC West Division-leading Quincy University. Junior guard Stephanie Carpenter erupted for 18 points, on the strength of four three-pointers, while sophomore forward/center Anna Hackert chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds.

Hackert leads the Eagles and ranks 11th in the GLVC with 13.7 points per contest, while her team-leading 8.8 rebounds per contest are fourth in the GLVC. She leads the conference and is 10th in the nation with her .575 shooting percentage.

Carpenter, who is third in the conference with a team-high 2.6 made three-pointers per outing, is contributing 11.7 points per contest, good enough for 18th in the GLVC.

Saint Joseph's (1-11, 0-4 GLVC) is coming off a 71-61 loss to Drury University and has lost four straight after earning its first win of the year—a 79-57 triumph over Oakland City University last month. Junior guard Jasmyne Reynolds had 15 points to pace the Pumas in their loss and is averaging 9.5 points in GLVC play.

For the season, junior guard Lexy Carson and sophomore guard Kiki Wilson lead the Pumas with 14.3 and 13.0 points per game, respectively.

USI leads the all-time series with the Pumas, 32-24, and is 16-4 against Saint Joseph's since 2000 after splitting the regular-season series a year ago. The Eagles trail the all-time series with Indianapolis, 35-26, and are 14-7 against the Greyhounds since 2000 after losing both of last season's meetings.

Indianapolis (11-1, 4-0 GLVC) is coming off a 74-71 home victory over Missouri University of Science & Technology and has won five straight since falling to No. 1 Ashland University in December. Junior guard Katy McIntosh had 25 points to lead the Greyhounds, who visit Kentucky Wesleyan College Thursday evening.

McIntosh leads the Greyhounds with 17.7 points per contest, while senior guard Kristin Turner is chipping in 14.8 points and a team-best 4.8 assists per outing.

USI makes its final trip to the Owensboro Sportscenter for a GLVC contest Monday when it takes on Kentucky Wesleyan. The Eagles lead the all-time series with the Panthers, 44-26, and are 17-5 against Kentucky Wesleyan since 2000 after splitting the regular-season series a year ago.

The Panthers (7-4, 3-1 GLVC) have seven players averaging at least 6.7 points per contest, but just one player averaging in double-digits. Senior guard Lauren Goffinet is averaging 11.5 points per game to lead the Panthers, who also host Saint Joseph's Saturday.
