EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The University of Southern Indiana baseball team hopes to make a final stand at the USI Baseball Field this weekend as it continues its quest for a berth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.
The Screaming Eagles (24-22, 14-18 GLVC) need to win all four games with the Pumas of Saint Joseph's College (15-29, 14-17), plus for Bellarmine University and the University of Missouri-St. Louis to be swept in their last four contests for USI to earn a berth in the conference tournament. Bellarmine University is playing four versus University of Wisconsin-Parkside this weekend, while UMSL takes on Drury University for a four-game series. (For more on the GLVC Standings, click on

At USI, the first pitch for Friday's single game is 6 p.m., while Saturday's doubleheader is slated for 2 p.m. Sunday's series finale has been moved from noon to 2 p.m. Game coverage, including live statistics and audio broadcasts for all four games between USI and Saint Joseph's, is available at gousieagles.com.
Last weekend, USI lost three of four with the University of Indianapolis and the chance to control its own destiny this weekend.
The Pumas are in much the same situation as the Eagles. Saint Joseph's is a half-game ahead of USI in the GLVC East Division standings, but needs to win three of four games to have a chance at advancing to the league playoff.
USI trails the all-time series with Saint Joseph's, 33-30, but swept all four from the Pumas last year. The Eagles also have five of the last six with the Pumas.
