Game Score: USI 10, Lake Erie 5

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Senior second baseman Ryan Kaczmarski had a three-run double in the fourth inning as the No. 28 University of Southern Indiana baseball team rallied for a 10-5 victory over Lake Erie College Sunday at the USI Baseball Field.

USI (4-2), which completed the three-game sweep of the Storm after taking both games of Saturday's doubleheader, scored five times in the fourth inning to break a 3-3 tie. Kaczmarski went 2-for-2 at the plate with three walks a four runs scored to spark the Screaming Eagles, who have won four straight games.

After spotting the Storm (0-3) an unearned run in the top of the first inning, the Eagles answered with a pair of unearned tallies in the last part of the inning to take a brief 2-1 advantage.

Lake Erie scored runs in the second and third innings to build a 3-2 lead, but a run-scoring single by sophomore Brent Weinzapfel in the last part of the third inning evened the score at 3-3.

Kaczmarski, following his three-run double, scored two batters later when senior designated hitter Dylan Mooney hit an RBI-single through the right side of the infield.

Junior centerfielder B.J. Willis, who had a run-scoring double in the seventh inning to complete USI's offensive outburst, scored USI's fifth run of the fourth frame on an RBI-groundout by sophomore leftfielder Bryce Shoulders.

The Eagles, who sent nine batters to the plate in the fourth inning, increased their lead to six runs in the fifth frame when senior third baseman Brennan Malham hit a sacrifice fly to score junior shortstop Reece Rounder, who was 2-of-4 with a pair of runs scored.

Freshman Ben Wright was credited with the win after giving up five runs, three earned, off seven hits in five-and-a-third innings of work. He improves to 2-1 with the decision.

The Eagles return to action Friday at 2 p.m. when they host Tiffin University to begin a three-game series at the USI Baseball Field.
