USI concludes its brief two-game road trip and its GLVC West Division slate with Rockhurst University Saturday at 1 p.m. in Kansas City, Missouri, before returning home to begin a three-game homestand against GLVC East Division rival Kentucky Wesleyan College Monday at 5:15 p.m. The Screaming Eagles finish their three-game homestand with the University of Indianapolis (January 19) and Saint Joseph's College (January 21).

The Eagles (6-6, 0-4 GLVC) are trying to snap a three-game losing streak and notch their first conference victory when they face the Cardinals of William Jewell Thursday evening. USI saw missed free throws cost them in its 55-50 overtime loss to GLVC West Division leader Missouri University of Science & Technology last Thursday; while an early 15-2 deficit proved to be too much for the Eagles to overcome in their 65-55 setback to Drury University last Saturday.
Sophomore guard
Stephanie Carpenter led the Eagles in the two losses with 14.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, while freshman forward/center
Mary O'Keefe averaged 12.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per appearance.
The Eagles are hoping for the healthy return of their leading scorer and rebounder in freshman forward/center
Anna Hackert. Hackert, who missed the last two games with an ankle injury, is averaging 12.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest. She leads the GLVC with a .566 field goal percentage.
William Jewell (7-3, 2-2 GLVC), which is coming off a 58-55 victory over Bellarmine University last Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky, is led by sophomore guard Chelsea Meeks and sophomore forward Cassy Nicolay. Meeks is averaging a team-best 11.2 points and 2.7 assists per game, while Nicolay is averaging 11.1 points and a team-high 6.2 rebounds per outing.
Thursday's game marks the first-ever meeting between William Jewell and a USI in women's basketball.
USI leads the all-time series with Rockhurst, 7-3, and is 6-3 since 2000 against the Hawks after winning last year's meeting, 62-49, in Kansas City.
Rockhurst (3-8, 1-3 GLVC), which hosts Kentucky Wesleyan Thursday, saw its two-game winning streak come to an end with a 52-47 setback to Northern Kentucky University last Saturday in Highland Heights, Kentucky. Junior guard MaKayla Grahn leads the Hawks with 8.8 points per game, while sophomore forward Allison Strike is averaging 7.1 points and a team-best 6.3 rebounds per contest.
