Danielle LaGrange has been named the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for her efforts in leading the Screaming Eagles to a 2-0 record to begin league play this past weekend.
LaGrange averaged 3.20 kills and 0.80 blocks per set as the Eagles posted come-from-behind road wins over No. 14 Lewis University and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. She finished the weekend with a .291 attacking percentage, six digs, and four service aces.
In USI's five-set victory over Lewis, LaGrange racked up 15 kills and three blocks while attacking at a .263 clip. She tallied six kills, three blocks, and a pair of aces in the final three sets as the Eagles rallied from a two-game deficit to snap the Flyers' 45-match regular-season home winning streak.
The Eagles also rallied from a two-set deficit on Saturday to defeat UW-Parkside in five sets. LaGrange collected 17 kills, three digs, and five blocks in the victory, including 10 kills in the final three frames.
LaGrange, a kinesiology major and a graduate of Heritage Hills High School, currently leads USI with 3.59 kills and 0.77 blocks per set and has a team-best .276 attacking percentage.
The Eagles (4-2, 2-0 GLVC), who sit atop the GLVC East Division standings with No. 24 Northern Kentucky University, return to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. when they travel to Owensboro, Kentucky, to take on Kentucky Wesleyan College. USI opens its home schedule Friday at 7 p.m. against Bellarmine University and Saturday at 3 p.m. against Northern Kentucky.
