EVANSVILLE, Ind.
  –  University of Southern Indiana senior right-hander Trevor Leach (Danville, Indiana) established a new career record for wins as the Screaming Eagles defeated Wayne State College (Nebraska), 5-3, in the Dunn Hospitality Tournament at the USI Baseball Field. USI wins its second in a row and raises its record to 4-5, while WSC falls to 2-5.

Leach (2-1) won his 26th career game by allowing eight hits and three runs, two earned, in six innings of work. The senior right-hander, who is 26-3 in three-plus seasons at USI, also struck out three.

The Eagles flew out to a 4-0 lead with a pair of tallies in the first and third innings. Junior shortstop Brad Vance (Louisville, Indiana) put USI on the scoreboard in the first with an RBI single and later scored on a triple by senior designated hitter Tyler Choate (Carmi, Illinois).

Senior first baseman Adam Enright (Hammond, Indiana) ignited a two-run rally in the third with an RBI-single to score Choate and made the score 3-0. USI finished doubling the lead when junior rightfielder Bryan Chestnut (West Terre Haute, Indiana) scored on a balk.

After the Wildcats cut the Eagles' lead to 4-3 in the sixth inning, USI sealed the victory in the seventh inning when Vance crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by Choate to make the score 5-3.

The Eagles and the Wildcats resume the Dunn Hospitality Tournament Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the USI Baseball Field.
