Collegiate Baseball Top 30 Poll
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The 13
th-ranked University of Southern Indiana baseball team hopes to get back on track this weekend in Russellville, Arkansas, when its plays a neutral site game versus Ft. Hays State University Saturday at 4 p.m. and visits Arkansas Tech University Sunday at 3 p.m.
The Screaming Eagles (1-2) fell from the number one ranking after losing two of three at Armstrong Atlantic State University last weekend. USI started the year on a good note, defeating AASU, 6-4, in 12 innings, but lost 11-0 and 3-2 decisions to finish the series.
USI is the season-opening opponent for the Tigers of FHSU, who were 31-22 a year ago. Saturday's match-up is the first meeting between the FHSU and USI in baseball.
The Wonder Boys of ATU (2-2) have split their four games since starting the season on February 8. ATU is scheduled to play at Missouri Southern State College Thursday and FHSU Saturday before hosting the Eagles. USI leads the all-time series with ATU, 2-0, after winning the only meeting of last year, 12-6.
Following the trip to Arkansas, the Eagles open the 2011 home schedule February 25 when they start a three-game series with the University of Montevallo.
