EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana baseball announced the signing of infielder Ryan Kaczmarksi to a national letter of intent for the 2011 season. Kacmarski is the fifth player to sign with the Eagles and Head Coach Tracy Archuleta this year.
Kaczmarski transfers to USI from Southeastern Community College (West Burlington, Iowa) and will have two seasons of eligibility with the Eagles. He was a NJCAA Division II second team All-Region second baseman for SCC after hitting .396 with 39 RBIs, 11 doubles, three triples, and five home runs in 56 games.
The native of Mishawaka, Indiana, was honorable mention All-Region as a freshman after .333 with 28 RBIs, eight doubles, five triples, and three home runs. He also had 30 stolen bases in two seasons at SCC.
Prior to playing for SCC, Kaczmarski earned letters in baseball and football at Penn High School (Mishawaka, Indiana). He was the Class 4A first team All-State second baseman as a senior.
“I am really excited to have Ryan on the team next season,” said Archuleta. “He fits into our system with his good speed and handles the bat well.”
Kaczmarski joins pitcher Silas Dill (Bernie, Missouri); pitcher/infielders James Mulvaney (Mt. Vernon, Illinois) and Justin Ahlbrand (Evansville, Indiana); and outfielder Bradley Wannemuehler (Evansville, IN) in signing with the Eagles this year.
