BOX SCORES AND PLAY-BY-PLAY:
GAME 1: USI 11, Rockhurst 8
GAME 2; USI 6, Rockhurst 0

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The 22nd-ranked University of Southern Indiana baseball team completed a four-game sweep of Rockhurst University Sunday afternoon by taking both ends of a doubleheader, 11-8 and 6-0, in Kansas City, Missouri. USI, which has won five in a row, goes to 30-8 overall and 17-3 in the GLVC, while Rockhurst goes to 17-11, 7-11 GLVC.

The Screaming Eagles came back from a 7-2 deficit in the final two innings to win game one 11-8. USI erased the five-run deficit with a five spot in the top of the sixth and four more in the seventh to produce the victory.

Leading the way offensively in the opener was junior catcher Dylan Mooney (St. Charles, Missouri) and senior rightfielder Caleb Ehmke (Waterloo, Indiana). Mooney was two-for-four with a two-run home run to tie the game in the seventh and four RBIs, while Ehmke was four-for-five with a double and two RBIs.

On the mound, junior right-hander Jarod Canterbury (Petersburg, Illinois) came out of the bullpen to get his fourth win of the year. Canterbury (4-0) pitched four innings, allowing four hits and one run.

The Hawks chased USI junior right-handed starter Dan Marcacci (Jupiter, Florida) after allowing four hits and three runs (two earned) in 1.1 innings of work. Senior pitcher/infielder Wandy Rosario (Boston, Massachusetts) allowed a run in the seventh on a home run, but got the final three outs to record his seventh save of the year.

In the nightcap, USI sophomore right-hander Josh Schultze (Evansville, Indiana) threw a nine-complete game gem to lead the Eagles to a 6-0 win. Schultze (4-2) scattered three hits and three walks, while striking out four to post his fourth win of the season.

After the USI offense was held scoreless for the first three innings, the Eagles exploded for two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and three in the sixth to give Schultze all of the support he would need. Mooney started the scoring by hitting his second home run of the day and his team-best eighth of the year.

Mooney finished the four-game series with 10 hits, seven run scored, two doubles, four home runs, and 12 RBIs.

Next week, the Eagles travel to Northern Kentucky University Wednesday for an 11 a.m. (CDT) twin-bill in Highland Heights, Kentucky before finishing the 2010 home schedule April 16-18 against Missouri University of Science and Technology at the USI Baseball Field.
