EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team begins a busy stretch that will see the Screaming Eagles play four Great Lakes Valley Conference games in seven days, beginning Sunday when it visits Saint Joseph's College for a 1 p.m. tilt in Rensselaer, Indiana.
USI (5-5, 1-1 GLVC) also travels to Springfield, Illinois, Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. for a meeting with the University of Illinois-Springfield before returning to the Physical Activities Center January 6 against Maryville University. The Eagles finish their one-week stretch January 8 when they host Missouri University of Science & Technology.

The Eagles are coming off a tough 56-47 setback to No. 12 Michigan Tech University Thursday evening at the PAC. USI shot just 25.4 percent from the field, but trailed by just six points five minutes into the second half. A 5-0 Michigan Tech run, however, ended the Eagles' comeback bid and dealt USI its second home loss of the year.

Kristin Raker led the Eagles with 13 points, while senior forward/center
Courtney Perry had a team-high 10 rebounds in the loss.
USI returns to GLVC action Sunday looking for its first road win of the season. The Eagles are 0-3 on the road and have been outscored by an average of 23.7 points per game.
Senior guards
Ellen Young and
Amie Newhart lead the Eagles with 12.2 and 10.2 points per contest, respectively. Raker is third on the team with 9.1 points per appearance; while Perry and Young are averaging a team-best 6.0 and 5.9 rebounds per game, respectively.
The Eagles have won five straight games against the Pumas of Saint Joseph's, dating back to the 2004-05 season. USI leads the all-time series 30-23 and is 14-3 since 2000 against the Pumas.
Saint Joseph's (4-6, 1-1 GLVC) is coming off a 67-64 victory over Wayne State University (Michigan) this past Wednesday. Junior guard Brittney Cruse, who leads the Pumas with 16.2 points per contest, led the team with a game-high 23 points.
Illinois-Springfield (4-5, 0-2 GLVC), which hosts the University of Indianapolis Sunday, is coming off a tough 67-50 setback to Truman State University and has lost five of its last seven games after beginning the season with two straight wins.
The Prairie Stars are led by senior forward Paulina Pogorzelski, who is averaging 13.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
USI leads the all-time series with the Prairie Stars, 7-0, but will make its first-ever visit to Springfield, Illinois, Tuesday. All of the previous seven meetings between the two squads have taken place since 2000 and have been played in Evansville.
