EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team can clinch the third seed in the GLVC West Division and a berth in the conference tournament with a victory against Missouri University of Science and Technology Saturday at the Physical Activities Center.
USI (14-10, 6-8 GLVC) will honor student assistant coach
Jessica Grimaldo (Carmi, Illinois) as well as forward/centers
Ninette Evans (Memphis, Tennessee) and
Brittany Neuman (Huntingburg, Indiana) as part of its Senior Day festivities prior to its 1 p.m. tip-off with the Miners.
The Screaming Eagles also will be wearing pink uniforms as part of its "Pack the PAC in Pink" initiative. All fans are encouraged to wear pink to help support the WBCA's efforts to raise breast cancer awareness.
Led by Neuman and sophomore guard
Ellen Young (Salem, Illinois), the Eagles defeated the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 83-74, in overtime Thursday evening in St. Louis. Young led all scorers with 19 points, 17 of which came in the second half and overtime period, while Neuman racked up 18 points and a career-high 18 rebounds.
Missouri S&T (12-12, 5-10 GLVC) fell to Quincy University, 89-81, Thursday evening in Quincy, Illinois. Senior forward Tamara McCaskill led the Miners with 27 points and 13 rebounds, while senior center Katie McElrath chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds.
USI defeated the Miners, 79-75, in Rolla, Missouri, earlier this season. Young led the Eagles with 20 points and eight rebounds, while McCaskill had 30 points and nine rebounds to lead the Miners.
