ROLLA, Mo. – The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team maintained its lead in the GLVC West Division with a 74-63 victory over Missouri University of Science Technology Saturday in Rolla, Missouri. USI won its fourth in a row in raising its record to 19-4 overall and 8-2 in the GLVC, while Missouri S&T fell to 7-12 overall, 2-9 GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles started slowly, spotting the Miners a eight point lead to begin the game. USI battled back with an 11-0 run of its own to take a 11-8 lead, before Missouri S&T rallied with a 12-3 run to regain the advantage, 20-14, halfway through the first half.
The Eagles commenced to chip away at the deficit and regained the lead, building a 31-24 advantage. The Miners pulled back to with two points, 31-29, but the Eagles maintained control to lead 35-31 at the intermission. The first half featured 10 lead changes.
In the second half, the game remained close until with the teams tied at 52-52, USI went on a 11-5 run to lead 63-57. The Eagles would extend the margin to 10 points three times, 67-57, 68-58, and 70-60, in the final three minutes before the 74-63 final score.
USI had five players score in double figures, led by senior forwardÂ
Anthony Pimble with 15 points before fouling out with 2:52 to play. Pimble also was second on the team with seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Jamar Smith (Peoria, Illinois) followed Pimble in the scoring column with 14 points, while junior forwardÂ
Brandon Russ (Cincinnati, Ohio) andÂ
Tyrone Bradshaw (Cincinnati, Ohio) had 13 points each. The double-figure scorers were rounded out by junior guardÂ
Marvin Gray (Freeport, Bahamas) with 11 points.
Russ was one rebound short of a double-double with a team-best nine boards, while Bradshaw was one block shot of tying a season-high with four.
USI returns to the friendly surroundings of the Physical Activities Center for next week when it hosts Quincy University on Thursday and Drury University on February 7. The USI-Drury match-up will be Homecoming for the Eagles.
