EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team concluded its four-game homestand with a 100-58 victory over Lake Erie College Monday evening at the Physical Activities Center. USI raises its record to 18-4 overall, while Lake Erie falls to 4-15 in 2008-09.
The victory marked the fifth time this year that the Screaming Eagles have reached the century mark and raised the 2008-09 home record to 15-1.
The Eagles were led in the 42-points win by junior guard
Jamar Smith (Peoria, Illinois) with a game-high 23 points, just two off of his season-high. Smith was a red-hot eight-of-10 from the field and seven-of-eight from beyond the three-point arc.
The seven three-point field goals was just one away from tying the USI single-game record of eight.
Smith was followed in the scoring column by the GLVC Player of the Week and senior forward
Anthony Pimble (Bronx, New York) with 17 points. Pimble also dished out a career-high five assists, tied for the team lead with six rebounds, and had a team-high three blocks.

Marvin Gray (Freeport, Bahamas) tied Pimble on the boards with a season-best six rebounds, while distributing a team-high seven assists.
Also reaching double-figures in the scoring column for the Eagles was junior forward/center
Jeron Lewis (Ft. Wayne, Indiana) and junior forward
Brandon Russ (Cincinnati, Ohio) with 14 points and 13 points, respectively.
The Eagles, as a team, shot a blistering 64.3 percent from the field (36-56) and 68.8 percent (11-16) from beyond the arc. USI also improved at the free throw line, hitting 81 percent of its attempts (17-21).
USI goes on the road in the GLVC later this week when the Eagles travel to Drury University Thursday at 8 p.m.and Missouri University of Science and Technology Saturday at 3 p.m. The Eagles could reach the 20-win plateau for the 16th time in 17 seasons with a pair of victories this week on the road.
