EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana women's basketball Head Coach Rick Stein has a chance to match former Head Coach Chancellor Dugan's all-time mark for wins (159) when he leads the Screaming Eagles into their GLVC-opening road trip to Lewis University and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside this week.

USI (4-2, 0-0 GLVC) takes on Lewis Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Romeoville, Illinois, before playing the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday at 1 p.m. in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Both games will be aired on WSPR 90.7 FM and via the internet at www.820thedge.com. Saturday's game can also be heard on WSWI AM 820.

Stein has posted a 157-111 record in his nine-plus seasons at the helm of the USI women's basketball program. He served as an assistant to Dugan during her eight-year tenure at USI and has played a part in 316 of the program's 464 all-time victories.

The Eagles, who have won four of their last five games, have benefitted from a balanced scoring attack in their first six games this season. Four players are averaging better than 10 points per game, with another player close to the double-digit plateau.

Sophomore guards Ellen Young (Salem, Illinois) and Lauren Meneghetti (Munster, Indiana) lead the Eagles with 14.3 and 11.8 points per game, respectively, while senior forward/center Brittany Neuman (Huntingburg, Indiana) is chipping in 10.8 points and a career-high 10.3 rebounds per contest.

USI also has been getting increased production out of sophomore guard Amie Newhart (Mulberry, Indiana) and freshman guard Rinesha Soaper (Henderson, Kentucky). Newhart, who averaged 13.7 points per contest last week, is fourth on the team in scoring at 10.7 points per appearance, while Soaper is chipping in 9.7 points per outing.

Lewis (3-4, 0-0) has lost two straight games after opening the year with a 3-2 mark. Sophomore guard Jenny Turpel leads the Flyers with 16.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, while freshman forward Devon Carbaugh is averaging 11.6 points per contest.

USI holds a slight edge (26-25) in the all-time series with Lewis after defeating the Flyers, 65-50, last year at the Physical Activities Center. The Flyers, however, have defeated USI 10 times in 19 games since 2000.

UW-Parkside (0-4, 0-0 GLVC), which hosts Kentucky Wesleyan College Thursday evening, is looking for its first win after falling to Northwood University, 68-57, on November 24. The Rangers, who will be playing at home for the first time this season, are led by junior guard Amanda Gibson and freshman guard/forward Brittany Beyer.

Gibson is averaging a team-best 14.0 points per game, while Beyer is chipping in 11.5 points and a team-high 5.0 rebounds per outing.

USI leads the all-time series with the Rangers, 19-4, despite falling to UW-Parkside, 70-63, last season at the PAC. The Eagles are 11-4 against the Rangers since 2000.
