EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Senior catcher Lisa Anderson (Chesterton, Indiana) hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 12th inning to boost the University of Southern Indiana softball team to a 6-5 game-two victory and a doubleheader sweep over the University of Indianapolis Sunday afternoon at the USI Softball Field.

The Screaming Eagles (29-22-1, 13-10-1 GLVC) blasted the Greyhounds, 8-1, in the first game and earned the fifth seed in next weekend's GLVC Tournament.

In game one, the Eagles capitalized on four UIndy errors to jump out to a 4-0 lead throughout the first three innings of the contest. Sophomore rightfielder Lacey Ligmanowski (Homer Glen, Illinois) had an RBI-single in the second inning, while sophomore shortstop Ally McKinley (Sullivan, Indiana) and freshman designated player/catcher Tara McConnell (Henderson, Indiana) had RBI-singles in the third inning.

McKinley, senior second baseman Audra Lindenschmidt (Evansville, Indiana), and senior outfielder Nikki Nichols (Henderson, Kentucky) all had RBI-singles in the sixth inning to give USI a comfortable 8-1 advantage.

Junior hurler Amy Harrison (Graceville, Florida) was solid inside the pitching circle for the Eagles. Harrison (17-11) gave up just one run off four hits, while recording a season-high tying nine strikeouts to earn the complete game victory.

Harrison came on in relief for the Eagles in game two to earn her second win of the day. She blanked the Greyhounds through six-and-two-thirds innings of work, allowing just four hits and fanning six batters, to pick up the decision.

The Eagles opened the second game by scoring three times in the first inning to take a 3-0 advantage. Lindenschmidt and Anderson each had RBI-singles in the first inning to help the Eagles to the fast start.

Anderson, who broke out of a tough hitting slump to go 3-for-6 with three RBIs in the second game, put the Eagles up 4-0 in the third inning with a run-scoring single.

Junior third baseman/pitcher Kristin Eickholt (Van Wert, Ohio) shutout the Greyhounds throughout the first five innings of the game, but a five-run sixth inning brought UIndy into a tie and forced Eickholt out of the pitcher's circle.

The two teams traded scoreless innings until the bottom of the 12th inning, when Anderson hit a two-out single through the middle of the infield to bring in the game-winning run. The win was the difference between USI being the fifth seed or the eighth seed in the GLVC Tournament.

Following the second game, the Eagles honored their four seniors—Anderson, Lindenschmidt, first baseman Jennifer Mullikin (Greenwood, Indiana), and Nichols—who played in their last collegiate games at the USI Softball Field this afternoon.

USI takes on Quincy University, the fourth seed, in the first round of the double-elimination conference tournament Friday, May 4, at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Illinois.
