EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana softball team opens GLVC play this weekend when it hosts the University of Missouri-St. Louis in a doubleheader Saturday at 3 p.m. and Quincy University in a doubleheader Sunday at noon. Saturday's doubleheader against Missouri-St. Louis was originally scheduled to start at noon, but was moved to 3 p.m. due to field conditions.
USI (13-9) has won three straight games and is 11-3 since starting the season 2-6 during the first two weekends of the season.
During the last 14 games, the Screaming Eagles are hitting .332 as a team and are averaging nearly 5.5 runs per game.
Senior first baseman
Jennifer Mullikin (Greenwood, Indiana) has posted a .421 batting average and eight RBIs in USI's last 14 games, while senior catcher
Lisa Anderson (Chesterton, Indiana) and junior third baseman/pitcher
Kristin Eickholt (Van Wert, Ohio) have accounted for a combined 23 runs batted in.
Eickholt also is 2-1 with a 1.67 ERA in the pitching circle during that span, while junior hurler
Amy Harrison (Graceville, Florida) is 6-1 with a 2.70 ERA in USI's last 14 games.
Overall, Eickholt leads the Eagles with 16 RBIs and a 1.62 ERA, while Anderson and sophomore shortstop
Ally McKinley (Sullivan, Indiana) have each recorded 15 RBIs. Harrison (7-3) leads USI in victories.
The Eagles will be without their All-Region centerfielder
Kathy Wood (Lynnville, Indiana) for an indefinite period of time. Wood injured her knee in USI's 8-4 victory over St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
