EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The race for the GLVC's post-season tournament will be on display when the University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team hosts the University of Indianapolis Thursday at 5:15 p.m. and Saint Joseph's College Saturday at 1 p.m.

USI (12-9, 4-6 GLVC) is currently tied with Kentucky Wesleyan College for the ninth spot in the league standings. The GLVC Tournament takes the top three teams in the GLVC's East and West Divisions as well as two wild cards.

Since this will be the only meetings with Indianapolis and Saint Joseph's this season, the weight of the games this weekend are only compounded since the Screaming Eagles trail the two opponents by a half game.

Coming off a 77-63 victory over Rockhurst University, the Eagles would like nothing more than to protect their home court and put a winning streak together by defeating Indianapolis Thursday and Saint Joseph's Saturday—especially since the Eagles will travel to Owensboro, Kentucky, February 4 to take on Kentucky Wesleyan.

To do so, they need freshman guard Keisha Collins (South Holland, Illinois) to continue her solid play. Collins averaged 13.5 points and 3.5 assists during USI's two-game road swing last week. She posted a 7-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.

The Eagles also need senior forward Ashley Green (Otterbein, Indiana) and junior guard Katie Thiesenhusen (Muskego, Wisconsin) to keep up their solid play. Green is averaging 12.3 points and 5.5 rebounds in USI's last four outings, while Thiesenhusen is averaging 15.3 points and 5.0 rebounds during the month of January.

Indianapolis (9-8, 4-5 GLVC), which has won three straight games after posting a 67-52 home win over St. Joseph's Saturday and a 66-44 home victory over Bellarmine University last night, leads the all-time series with the Eagles, 28-23 and is 7-4 against USI since 2000 after sweeping the season-series a year ago.

Junior guard Mandy Geryak leads the Greyhounds with 12.9 points and 4.7 assists per game, while sophomore forward/center Vanessa Jackson is second on the team with 9.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Junior forward Amanda Norris leads Indianapolis with 6.4 rebounds per game and is third on the team with 9.8 points per contest.

Saturday's game against Saint Joseph's (11-6, 4-5 GLVC) will be the 200th game under Head Coach Rick Stein. The Pumas, who visit Kentucky Wesleyan College Thursday at 5:15 p.m., lead the Eagles by a half game for the top wild card spot, but have lost two straight after their setback to Indianapolis last Saturday.

Junior forward Michelle Bova leads the Pumas with 12.1 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, while Ashley Hughes leads the Pumas with 3.4 assists per game and is second on the with 11.5 points per contest.

USI leads the all-time series with the Pumas, 25-23, and is 8-3 against Saint Joseph's since 2000 after splitting last year's season-series.
