OWENSBORO, Ky.—The University of Southern Indiana men's golf team was just 10 over par as a team as it finished second at the Kentucky Wesleyan College Invitational Friday at the Summit Country Club.
The Screaming Eagles shot a 298 during the one-round tournament, finishing just six strokes off the winning pace, set by Lindsey Wilson College.
Senior
Matt Fonner (Champaign, Illinois) shot an even-par 72 to lead the Eagles. He finished fourth, just a stroke off the winning score.
USI also had a "B" squad competing in the tournament. Senior
Mike Heider (Anderson, Indiana) led that squad with a two-over 74, placing him in a tie for seventh. USI's "B" squad finished the tournament in fifth place with a team score of 311.
The Eagles are in action today and tomorrow as they take on the University of Evansville in the first-ever Challenge Cup at the Victory National Golf Course in Newburgh, Indiana.
