EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Men's Golf had three players named to the Cobalt Golf All-American Scholars list Tuesday afternoon.

The Screaming Eagle's trio of
Jason Bannister,
Carter Goebel, and
Sam Vertanen completed the 2024-25 academic year as a junior or senior, and maintained a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2. On the course, they participated in at least 50 percent of the team's rounds and have a per-round stroke average of 76 or under.

Bannister, a business administration graduate, closed his collegiate career with another stellar season. He was named to the All-OVC First Team after posting a USI record 70.90 per-round average score. Bannister totaled five top-five finishes, six top-10 finishes, and logged 19 total rounds below par during the year. The senior was also named the OVC Golfer of the Month in October 2024, marking his third such honor.

Goebel, an accounting and professional services major, put together an immaculate junior campaign, posting a 72.94 strokes per-round average, ranking him among the top 10 seasons in USI history. He opened the season with a best 54-hole score of the year and a new career low, shooting 210 (-3) toward a top-15 finish at the SIUE Dolenc Invitational.

Vertanen, an English graduate, finished out his senior season earning All-OVC Second Team honors after averaging 72.39 strokes per round. This impressive feat solidified his spot in the top five best single-season averages. The graduate registered a career average of 73.15 strokes per round, which ranked second in the all-time USI record books for top career averages.
