CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.—The University of Southern Indiana men's and women's track and field teams recorded a combined 10 top-five finishes at the Gatorade Classic Friday and Saturday at the Abe Stuber Track and Field Complex.
Juniors
Heather Cooksey (Brownsburg, Indiana) and
Abby Boberg (Bicknell, Indiana) led the women's squad with second place finishes in the 5,000 meters and high jump, respectively. Cooksey's time of 16 minutes, 52.19 seconds met NCAA II provisional qualifying standards.
Senior
Crystal Stock (Mt. Vernon, Indiana) recorded a provisional qualifying time in her second event of the spring. Stock finished fourth in the 1,500 meters with a time of four minutes, 39.18 seconds after recording a provisional qualifying time in the 5,000 meters a week ago at the SIU Carbondale Spring Classic.
Freshman
Scott Forbey (Washington, Indiana) and junior
Jake England (Valparaiso, Indiana) led the men's squad with second and third-place finishes. Forbey was second in the high jump with a mark of six feet, six inches, while England was third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15 minutes, 27.90 seconds.
Junior
Brad Orndorff (Greenfield, Indiana) was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.80 seconds, .05 seconds away from a provisional qualifying time.
The Screaming Eagles will return to action when they compete in the Indiana Little State Championships April 8-9 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
