EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team finishes 2005 Saturday when it hosts Oakland City University at 1 p.m. in the Physical Activities Center. Saturday's contest will be the first game of a men's and women's doubleheader, with USI's men hosting Lees-McRae College at 3 p.m.

USI (8-5) returned to practice this past Tuesday evening after a week long layoff. The Screaming Eagles defeated Purdue University-Calumet, 66-36, December 20 before the Christmas break.

The Eagles have won two straight and eight of their last 10 since starting the season with three losses at the Disney Division II Tip-Off Classic.

Sophomore forward Jasmine Baines (Jeffersonville, Indiana) has been a big reason for the Eagles' success in the last 10 games. She is averaging 15.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game since the Disney trip and is the team's leading scorer on the season with 14.2 points per contest.

Freshman point guard Keisha Collins (South Holland, Illinois) also has had a helping hand in USI's success during the last 10 games. Collins is averaging 10.7 points and 4.3 assists during the last 10 games and is coming off a 5-assist performance against Purdue-Calumet.

Oakland City (3-5) has won two straight games and hosts Southern Illinois University Edwardsville tonight prior to traveling to Evansville Saturday. The Lady Oaks are led by freshman guard Karissa Walter, who is averaging 12.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.

USI leads the all-time series with the Lady Oaks, 23-11, and is 2-0 against Oakland City since 2000. The Eagles defeated OCU, 71-54, November 25, 2003.

Following the Oakland City game, USI will bring the New Year in when it hosts the University of Alabama-Huntsville Monday at 5:15 p.m. The Chargers (5-4) have won three straight and host Ouachita Baptist Friday night prior to visiting the PAC Monday evening.

Junior guard Kellye Barr leads the Chargers with 12.1 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, while freshman forward Kristen Banes is second on the team with 12.0 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest.

The Eagles lead the all-time series with the Chargers, 1-0, after defeating them 60-48 a year ago in Huntsville.
