Eagles looking to add to four-game win streak

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team is looking to add to its four-game win streak Thursday at 2 p.m. (CST) when it takes on Northwood University in the GLIAC/GLVC Holiday Classic in Midland, Michigan. The Screaming Eagles will take on Ferris State University Friday at noon.

USI (8-2) has been dominating during its four-game winning streak, outscoring the opposition by 23.3 points per game.

Senior guard Jamie Truitt (Owensboro, Kentucky) and senior forward/center Andrea Engleking (Charlottesville, Indiana) have led the Eagles during their win streak. Truitt is averaging 19.8 ppg and has connecting on 19 three-pointers, while Engleking has chipped in 16.3 ppg and 4.5 rebounds per game to help the Eagles to their longest winning streak of the season.

Junior guard Tiara Brown (Normal, Illinois) has averaged 6.8 assists per game as the Eagles have averaged 80.8 points per contest during the current stretch.

Northwood (5-5) is led by junior guard/forward Payge Salquist and junior guard Maureen Elliott. Salquist is averaging a team-high 12.9 ppg and 7.8 rpg, while Elliott is second on the squad with 12.6 ppg and 4.6 rpg.

The Timberwolves lead the all-time series with the Ealges, 1-0, after defeating USI, 77-73, two years ago at the Physical Activities Center.

FSU (2-7), which plays Northern Kentucky University Thursday at noon, is led by sophomore guard Kristin Reinhart and senior forward/center Bridget Horwitz. Reinhart is averaging a team-leading 15.8 ppg and 4.8 apg, while Horwitz is chipping in 15.3 ppg and a team-high 8.5 rpg.

USI leads the all-time series with the Bulldogs, 4-1, after falling to them, 66-56, two seasons ago at the PAC. FSU was an NCAA II Tournament participant last season.

The Eagles resume GLVC play January 6 when they host Bellarmine University at the PAC.
