Assistant Coach Miles Krieger ’03 M’08 returned for his second stint with the University of Southern Indiana cross country/track and field coaching staff in 2010 after spending four seasons as the head coach of the Southeast Missouri State University men’s and women’s cross country team.

While at Southeast Missouri State, Krieger led the Red Hawks’ men’s cross country team to four consecutive top-four finishes at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships, including a second-place finish in 2008. His women’s squad had three top-four finishes at the OVC Championships, including a pair of third-place efforts in 2007 and 2008.

Krieger, whose teams ranked in the top 25 of the top 25 of the USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams three straight seasons with grade point averages above 3.4, also was the assistant track coach for distance runners at Southeast Missouri State.

Prior to Southeast Missouri State, Krieger helped lead the USI men’s cross country team to the 2005 Great Lakes Valley Conference title. The Screaming Eagles recorded one of the most lopsided wins in GLVC history in 2005 as they placed six runners inside the top 10 and finished with 26 points, 37 points better than the second-place team.

During his first stint at USI, Krieger coached numerous NCAA Division II All-Americans in cross country and track, including a national champion and runner-up in the long jump (Candace Perry). Krieger, who coached numerous NCAA II national qualifiers, also served as the Assistant Meet Director of the 2004 NCAA II Cross Country Championships that were hosted in Evansville.

In 2003-04, Krieger was an assistant cross country/track and field coach at Franklin College, where he developed a training regimen and recruited student-athletes to improve the team’s performance.

Krieger graduated from USI with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies in 2003 and earned his master’s degree in public administration from USI in 2008. He was an All-GLVC performer in the 10,000 meters on the track in 2000.

A native of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, Krieger is married to former USI All-American and current Assistant Coach Allison (Shafer) Krieger.
