EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana Men's and Women's Cross Country seniors
Alex Nolan and
Ellie Hall have, once again, been named the Ohio Valley Conference Runners of the Week in an announcement by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
Nolan came within two seconds of breaking the Screaming Eagles' all-time eight-kilometer mark when he finished 40th out of 257 runners at the Gans Creek Classic last Friday. His time of 23 minutes, 38.5 seconds was the fastest in the OVC this season and moved him past his Hall of Fame father, Jim Nolan, for second on USI's all-time 8k list.
The Evansville, Indiana, native earns OVC Runner of the Week for the second time this season and the fifth time in his cross country career. Nolan, who is working on his master's degree in artificial intelligence, helped lead the Screaming Eagles men to a 21st-place finish in the 30-team field.
This is the third time this season that USI has had a men's runner of the week after his younger brother,
Jackson Nolan, collected OVC Runner of the Week honors earlier this month.
Hall is garnering OVC Runner of the Week accolades for the third time this season and fifth time in her career after finishing 46th out of 251 runners at the Gans Creek Classic. She finished the 6k course in a personal and OVC-best time of 20:39.4, moving her into fourth on the Screaming Eagles' all-time list.
The Ferdinand, Indiana, native led the Screaming Eagles' women to a 23rd-place finish in the 29-team field with her performance. Hall, who is working on her master's degree in aging health, broke her former PR by nearly 20 seconds. She ran last year's Gans Creek Invitational in 20:58.5, which was No. 8 all-time at USI at the conclusion of the 2025 season.
USI returns to action Friday when it competes at the Nike XC Town Twilight in Terre Haute, Indiana. The Screaming Eagles men, who moved up to No. 11 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association Great Lakes Region poll, are scheduled for a 5:40 p.m. (CDT) start, while the women begin the action with a 5 p.m. start time.
